More and more the bread at the Baker gets sweeter and sweeter and smells the same as Casa Pan Dulce. Where has the good German bread gone?

Last time I had to give back a chocolate cake because they used salted margarine.

If you allow the good German bread is still there!

Your experience with the chocolate cake: Please remember where you are. Such things happen more often than in the States but the "smiling faces" of the San Pedranos should make it easy to smile too and go on. I'm sure they refunded or exchanged the cake!

Again another beautiful day in paradise - just smile and be happy :-)

Out of curiosity - what is the problem with salted margarine?

If you bake a sweet creamy cake, then you don't use salted margarine or salted butter or the whole cake will be salty.

Its happens not only to me twice, once with a chocolate cake and once with a black forest cake, it also happens to other customers I know.

If you produce something you should have a quality control. It is fine for me to make a mistake, but if you make the same mistake more as once then it is a issue.

When I bake a cake I always use salted butter, as my mother did/still does. I use unsalted for any frosting/butter cream but never in the cake itself. Maybe it is an American/European thing, or maybe it is just what you are used to.

Gunther is the guy who will have baked that cake. I'll ask him to post here how he chooses his ingredients.

That is how I bake cakes also. You need to have salt in your cake, if it isn't in the butter then I add regular table salt.

The funny thing about Cayemen's complaint is, that he first ate the cake and started complaining when the plate was empty ...

Sorry for this one day mistake, there is no salted butter in any cake or pie now.

In the meantime we have a new pastry chef, working for six weeks now. All we get is positive input since then. Everybody is invited to try it out live.
