We are planning a trip at the end of August. Will anything be open at that time or is that the time the businesses take their vacation? I read a post that said most island restaurants will be closed in September but was wondering about the end of August particularly Aug 28 thru Sept 5.

Thanks,

Since the businesses are private, the decisions are made independently and could change ...... but having said that, I looked at the calendar to see when the parties start.

My prediction is that most places will stay open through Friday Sept 3 (and very likely Saturday the 4th).
The big party starts on the following Friday, and like all party animals we need time to get ready.

Great so if we come at the end of August most of the places should be open.

Thanks

phish - I think you'll find most tourist oriented establishments restaurants and hotels closed during your visit - do you have reservations at a resort or hotel?
The parades are on tho - and the back-yard parties are rockin.

I stay @ Ruby's (I'm one of those budget travelers). Gave them my dates & they told me I'd wouldn't have a problem getting a room. Haven't made reservation @ Ruby's yet as I am still waiting for the airfare to drop a bit & I'm not sure if I am coming in on the 3rd or the 4th yet.

Looking forward to experiencing St. Georges Caye Day/National Day in San Pedro.

We probably have 100 restaurants in San Pedro. Sept October is when many will take vacations and close for a couple of weeks usually. At the very worst 25 - 30 might be closed at one time. Starve, no. Options, yes. Recommended favourite shut, perhaps.

I am certain I will not starve during my stay. I am just looking forward to a laid-back, relaxing visit, spending time with friends--old and new.
