but Mel Spain's grandson, Debbie Spain's nephew has a rare liver problem, biliary artresia and needs a liver transplant to live. He is 5 or 6 months old. He is in LA, California right now but the hospital needs $400k to do the operation to save his life. They don't have that money.

I know that no one has a solution, but all suggestions are appreciated. Go to Cuba? India? Find a research hospital? I think the young parents are desperate right now...and I'm just curious if anyone can think of anything...

This is such sad news. We did have a number of fundraisers here on the island to benefit little Daniel's care - but certainly we didn't manage to raise anywhere near that amount.

I hope somebody out there has some ideas.

There has to be a research or teaching hospital in LA that would do the work, if not free, then under some indigent program. They are usually the best qualified and on the cutting edge of research in these areas anyway. Did we raise enough money to explore those possibilities?
