**BTL is putting in hard lines for phones in the northern part of the Middle Island. The installation is to hub from the tower by Costa Maya, with lines running north and south for a considerable distance. I don't have details on timing or exact areas that will receive this service. This sound like excellent news for those in the new service area.

I hope BTL will consider putting in lines south. Phone lines only run 3 miles south of town.

It only too 25 years for us, you should be getting yours anytime now :-)
The Hard lines are going all the way to Costa Maya and the cable company is right behind.
There is a huge pile of poles on the beach. so I'm believing this is true!

I guess we should be thankful we at least have cable! Happy for you guys, just a little jealous!

I just left the BTl and chatted with the line man. They share poles with the electricity company but not exclusively. they are putting in a hub behind La Perla that can go miles in either direction (North and South) He says it will extend way beyond Costa Maya.

This is good. Really good.

Funny how technology has reached a point where this is archaic.
A lot of people in the US no longer bother with land lines, but were jumping for joy that were getting it. Still Third World.

Does this mean we will be able to get DSL up North? I am tired of Hughesnet.
