Hello out there! A few general questions: we are planning to take travelers checks, do we need to cash them when we get there or will the places take them? Do they take American or Belize dollars at the airport when you pay that fee before you leave? Also, is anyone else staying at the Tropica during that week?

T checks BZ money and US money is all interchangable. Cavaet--To break a TC can be difficult if you're only buying something small--like a belikin. Change them out at the hotel then have cash to go to town & barter or buy little stuff

We use our traveler's checks at many places hotel, restaurants, shops, & guides. No Problem in SP. All places in the airport take Belize and US $. If you cash your checks in the bank it will cost you some $. We get 2/1 at all the stores we cash in our checks at.
