It may have been a dive mecca, but our family always ventured here by boat (since we stay at Victoria House) for the best breakfasts! Super great coffee and fresh juices, but they always had a flavor of Marie Sharp jelly that I never could figure out or find for myself. I hope they keep the tradition of a great kitchen!
PS- We have many, many pictures under that very surfboard. Glad to see someone thought it was worth saving!

My first visit to Belize was a stay at JE. Jim Scott was the activities director. Larry Parker had the dive shop. Willie Leslie the Me Too. I wandered up the beach to Mata Grande and noticed some for-sale signs on lots there. And so it goes - we've lived at Mata Grande since 92.

I think we all have fond memories of Journeys End I personally have, especially when they used to film the soft porn B movies up there way back when, using Capt Toms house for location shooting

Boy I could tell some storys, but this is a family board smile

Many years later i took over the dive shop from Larry and have another memory of the largest ever scuba group i serviced.

Largest dive group I ever handled and it was 120 more than half were handicapped divers, Journeys End put in walkways for the group so they could get around in there wheel chairs and I took them diving.

I tell you those people were very capable we had paraplegics and all sorts of handicaps, and what suprised me the most was just how independant they were, better than some of my able bodied groups LOL. Of course the severly handicapped had able bodied dive buddys.

Gaz: you seem to have quite a bit of personal knowledge of those films. What was your involvment and was it "soft pron" because it was before the days of Vigagra? smile

It was softer than soft porn more of a fantasy underwater video shoot with a topside romantic storyline, pretty crap really but boy the girls were hot.

In case your wondering No I was not in it, LOL main connection was I met the models at DEMA in orlando and showed one of them around the island when she was not filming wink

I made a two tank dive with Steve on my 2nd trip to SP. Ruben was the dive master. Some place I have a picture of the two of them. I do have a good video of Ruben teasing a lobster out of its hole onto his hand and it crawled up his arm. The best part was watching him lovingly put it back in its hole. AH - good memories.

Take only pictures leave only bubbles

A photo of the dive shop on the beach at journeys End was used by PADI in the open Water book for many years. It seemed to depict my fantasy of a dive shop in the Caribbean.
Its still a classic setting, not a fantasy anymore, I have my real feet propped up on a real desk right here!

Very nice! The first time we came to Belize, we stayed at JE. Sad to see it closed but it was time for a remodel. lol

Does anyone know if JE was sold to a new group or is it simply reopening under a different name and concept. If it does have a new owner does anyone know who they are or anything about them. I would think if it was not sold they would use the name Journey's End since it seems to have some positive brand recognition. I am just curious because I live practically next door.
