Ocean View Grand Environmental Impact Assessment


The General Public is hereby invited to attend the Public Consultation for the Causeway Engineering Component Addendum to the Ocean View Grand Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Tourism Development located on North Drowned Caye, offshore Belize City. The Public Consultation will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Chateau Caribbean Hotel from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The General Public is asked to attend.


The Addendum can be viewed at the following locations:


- Department of Environment, 10/12 Ambergris Avenue, BELMOPAN.
- Coastal Zone Management Authority & Institute Library, Princess Margaret Dive, Belize City
- Leo Bradley Library, Princess Margaret Drive, Belize City
- Belize Audubon Society, # 12 Fort Street, Belize City

Protecting the manatee population found in the Drowned Cayes range and Swallow Caye is just one of the concerns of the North Drowned Caye development. The meeting tonight is really about the Causeway component which is a significant development for Belize, particularly in terms of engineering. Belizeans should all be concerned.

This meeting was about the causeway from NDC to Belize City, which should not have been discussed or approved without factoring in the causeway from Stake Bank to NDC to Belize City.
EIA was prepared and presented by Tom Grimshaw, who needs to needs to spanked by both the developer and participants.
