I will be in AC in three weeks and are staying 8 days. There are four of us and we have reserved the first 4 nights at Ramon's. The messages here make it sound pretty nice but expensive. We are hoping to use our other 4 nights in AC to stay somewhere else. Any suggestions on places that would contrast Ramon's? How about going over to Caulker for 4 days? We plan to do some diving and some relaxing wherever we are and are willing to pay for a nice place, but do not require luxury.

Look up the Holiday Hotel.. It's great and is right on the beach with great rooms, not fancy. Ask for a fridge in your room...Rick

You have to check out VILLA'S AT BANYAN BAY. I cannot say enough about this place. IMMACULATE!! Really conveniant, clean & beautiful. Great Pool!! I did a lot of homework on the topic of "where to stay"..
We stayed at Captain Morgan's and Banyan Bay - I wish now that we had stayed at Banyan for the entire trip! You will not be dissapointed!

I'd have to agree with ambergrisbound. I've stayed at Banyan Bay. the rooms; pool, etc are really clean. The restaurant is right on the water and the staff of both the restaurant and dive shop couldn't have been more helpful. They also clean the seagrass off the beach every morning, so you can actually use the beach if you want to. Each unit has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, so it's perfect for 4 people. It's not in the center of town, but that makes it quieter. I went to Caye Caulker also and loved it, but it's so laid back it makes Ambergris seem like a metropolis. I would definitely go to Caye Caulker for 2 days if you can.
