Has anyone been to this place? It sounds intriguing. If you have been there what was your experience like and is the snorkeling as good as it sounds?

Thanks. What did you like about it? Was there anything you did not like about it? How is the snorkeling?

honestly,, i have not been there for years, but,, i do send our guests out and they have nothing but good things to say.
yes the snorkeling is great right from the dock (i do remember that), it is private, easy to get to, Kitty Fox is a pleasure to deal with (the owner/manager), the food is good, the rates are reasonable.
i don't think i have ever heard a bad comment.
i would not recommend staying for a long period, but that's me. i can't spend a long period on a small island.

Thanks again. it would be a great disappointment to get there and find that snorkeling is not very good right off the island. We don't want to have to pay someone to take us out in a boat to snorkel. Been there, done that!

We stayed at Akumal Bay in MX and that is very good snorkeling. By contrast we stayed at a resort last year in MX and the snrokeling was not very good at all. That was Ok, as we were there for other reasons on that trip but it does show that each area or place you stay can be very different.

When you say guests, do you run an establishment too? If so what kind?

The snorkeling is excellent right off FLC. This little caye has it's own fringe reef running about 3/4 of the way around it. There is a lot of coral and a reasonably steep wall - there is a good variety interesting fish too. The island is loving maintained, rustic but totally functional and comfortable. Solar hot water, eco-toilets, fresh rain-water vats.
We stayed there for three days during whale shark season and had the dive boats pick us up there en route from Placencia to Gladden. The other divers were sooooo jealous!
Probably the best meal I have ever had in my life was the one Ran made with things he caught that afternoon ....... lobster, whelk, snapper, crab - we're hoping to go back this summer if time permits.

I agree Diane, one of the most memorable meals of my life. Great snorkeling off the caye, only 9 miles from shore, whereas the reef is 19 miles from shore. Great place, book it.
