Just thought I would post this information I received from American Airlines over the weekend. They said there will be an embargo on bringing any boxes into Belize from late May until September. Don't know what this is all about because I was in a hurry.

Nothing new about this for the last five to six years American has always imposed a no box shipment policy plus you are ususally not allowed to ship over your baggage allowance. This is not only on Belize route but all routes to Central and South America.
The direct result of people coming from these countries over the summer holidays and attempting to go home with hundreds upon hundreds of pounds of luggage. No boxes at all allowed at all and be sure that you weigh your luggage and make sure that you are not overweight or you could find yourself unpacking at the ticket counter.

Do you know the percent for duty? Is it what the item costs, pounds, or ???
We'll have to ship it now, 9LBS around $250.00. Any clue?
If it's a donation for non profit org., does that matter?

Hi Hope, the duty varies tremendously on the type of item involved.

him at 501-2-70727. He can give you all the information on import
duties
and procedure to import items to Belize.
