This week the San Pedro Town Council gave the street curbs a fresh coat of paint to remind all vehicles to keep parking accessible on the island. No vehicles should park on the marked red zones on the street corners.

I remember when they did this last year and the bunch of business owners that either paid the guys that painted the curbs; or went out later and extended the red curbs past their businesses. Some of those red curbs went halfway down the block.

If I remember correctly, they also did it in the middle of the night the last time, without warning.

Why is it to a business owner's advantage to have no parking in front of its establishment?

Because in many cases the street curbs are so close to the buildings that parked golf carts will block access to the entrance and shop windows of some establishments.
