BWEL Flames U-19, Ladyville Rural Strikers, & Brown Bombers U-15 win in BDFA football

[Linked Image] The Ladyville Rural Strikers, Brown Bombers under-15 teams both posted big wins in the Belize District Football Association summer football competition, while the BWEL Flames U-19 squad upset the U-19 Brown Bombers 3-2 and the Ladyville Rural Strikers girls bounced back from a 3-0 deficit to draw 3-3 with the SCA girls at the Ladyville Football field on Saturday, July 17.

Kursha Pollard, Tyra Moreira and Gilda Moguel led the SCA attacks, supported by Christiane Rodriguez and Shaheda Young at midfield, and Kursha Pollard soon drilled home SCA’s 1st to lead 1-0, and Shaheda Young added a 2nd goal and Tyra Moreira delivered a 3rd to lead 3-zip at the half.

Faith Maheia, Mertell Bailey and Sherren Flores led Ladyville’s counterattack, but could not get by the SCA defenders Inga Woods, Ashley Pelayo and Diedra Gill who helped goalie Ashley White secure the 3-0 lead up to the break.

Kirsten Fuentes turned things around for the Ladyville girls in the 2nd half, blasting the 1st goal past Ashley White. The Ladyville girls were still down 1-3, but Faith Maheia and Mertell Bailey kept the pressure on and Faith scored a 2nd goal and Mertell a 3rd to tie the score at 3-3 before the final whistle.

In Game 2, the Brown Bombers U-15 continued their victory roll, bombing Survivors FC 4-zip. Survivors’ Louis Alvarez and sweeper Khambrel Blease could not contain Devaughn Zuniga, who broke through their defense to boot in the 1st winning goal in the 1st half to lead 1-zip at the break. Kadeem Anderson and Jonathan Guardado led the Survivors’ counterattack, but the Survivors’ defense goofed in giving up a penalty in the 2nd half when they brought down Zuniga in the goal area and Jarron Myvett converted for a 2-0 lead. Myvett set the play for Zuniga to score a 3rd goal and Myvett added a 4th goal for the 4-0 win.

In Game 3, the Ladyville Rural Strikers U-15 posted a 3-0 win over the Alberts boys. Oscar Ponce scored Ladyville’s 1st goal, and while Gary Young, Raheem Flowers and Jamal Augustine led Alberts’ counterattack, they made no impression in the Ladyville defense. Leon Sedacy got through the Alberts’ defense to add 2 more goals for the 3-0 win.

In Game 4, the B.W.E.L. Flames upset the U-19 Brown Bombers 3-2, leading 2-0 at the half time break on strikes by Raheem Staine and Ronald Galvez.

In the 2nd half, the Bombers tied the ball game when their counterattack produced goals first by Andres Makin, and a 2nd goal by Clinton “Pin” Jorgenson. Daniel scored the winning goal for the Flames in the closing minutes of play.

The competition continues with a rematch between SCA and Ladyville Strikers, Alberts face Survivors in the U-15 game, and BWEL Flames will challenge Tropical FC of San Pedro at the M.C.C. grounds on Saturday, July 24.

Ladyville Rural strikers, Hattieville United & Brown Bombers U-15 & U-19 win in BDFA football playoffs

[Linked Image] Hattieville United U-15 and the Brown Bombers U-15 both qualified to the Belize District Football Association summer football finals, along with the Brown Bombers U-19, while the Ladyville Rural Strikers upset the SCA girls 2-0 in the playoffs at the M.C.C. grounds on Saturday, August 7.

In game 1, the Ladyville Rural Strikers scored a surprise upset of the competition and got some payback for several losses to the SCA girls by posting their first win, 2-0 against the SCA girl. Kristen Fuentes scored the 1st winning goal, and Mertell Bailey put the game on ice with a 2nd goal before the final whistle

In Game 2, Hattieville United secured their berth in the U-15 finals by a 3-0 win over Ladyville Rural Strikers on three strikes by Noel Thompson, Richard Waight and Aaron King to lead 3-zip at the half time break. The Ladyville counterattacks made no impression on the Hattieville midfield: Kobe Dyer, Trevaun Rhaburn and Stephen Coleman, and the tenacious Hattieville defense of Cleon Smith, Benjamin Hyde, Raheem Usher, Armando Herrera and Jeffrey Buller shut out the Ladyville boys the entire game.

In Game 3, the Brown Bombers also secured their berth in the U-15 finals by a 2-0 win against the 4th ranked seed, Survivors by two strikes by their star forward, Devaughn Zuniga to lead 2-zip before the half time break. This so demoralized the Survivors that they forfeited the 2nd half, conceding the win to the Bombers.

In Game 2, the senior Brown Bombers squad also secured their berth in the U-19 finals by a 9-0 win against the BWEL Flames, with 2 goals each from strikers Avian “Chi-chis” Crawford, Clinton “Pin” Jorgenson, Kendice “Suba” Williams and Raheem Jones. Andres Makin added a 9th goal for a 0-to lead 9-zip at the half time break.

The Flames counterattacks could not get through the titanium steel defense of the Bombers, led by Michael Perrera, Jason Thurton and Ernest Flores. With a 9-0 deficit against them, the Flames threw in the towel and forfeited the 2nd half, conceding the win to the Bombers.

The Brown Bombers U-19 will meet Tropical FC of San Pedro in the finals, of which Game 1 will be played out at la isla bonita on Sunday, while the SCA girls will challenge the Ladyville Rural Strikers, in the girls’ finals at the M.C.C. on Saturday, August 14, and Brown Bombers and Hattieville United will clash in the U-15 finals.

SCA girls & U-15 Brown Bombers win in BDFA football finals

[Linked Image] The SCA girls and the U-15 Brown Bombers each won Game 1 of the Belize District Football Association summer football championship finals at the M.C.C. garden last Saturday.

The SCA girls bombed the Ladyville Rural Strikers: 2-0. SCA’s Kursha Pollard, Tyra Moreira and Sheida Young led the offensive, supported by midfielders Symone Foreman, Christiane Rodriguez and Courtney Davan. Kursha Pollard soon impressed the scoreboard with SCA’s 1st goal, running through the Ladyville defense Angela Usher, Dejeanne Noralez, Tanisha Ogaldez and Daniela Palacio to give the SCA girls a 1-zip lead before the half time break.

Mertell Bailey, Janine Hendy and Kayla Sanchez led the Ladyville girls’ counterattack, supported by Rhonda and Faith Maheia, Kirsten Fuentes and Tishana Garcia, but nothing seemed to work. Their efforts were completely frustrated by SCA’s Diedra Gill, Inga Woods and Samari Samos who shut them down until the long whistle, In the meantime, Kursha Pollard gamboled to score a 2nd goal. SCA’s Shantie Castillo, Alexis Rosado, Kenisha Williams and Ashley Pelayo entered the ball game to retain the initiative and secure the 2-0 win.

In the boys final, the U-15 Brown bombed Hattieville United 4-2. Jarron Myvett razzle-dazzled his way past the Hattieville defense of Benjamin Hyde, Raheem Usher, Valentine Tablada and Lennox Clare to blast in the 1st goal on Hattieville goalie Cleon Smith and Devaughn Zuniga outran the Hattieville defense to score the Bombers’ 2nd goal before the half time break.

Hattieville’s Kelker Palacio and Richard Waight got a counterattack going in the 2nd half, backed up by Cleon Smith came out of goal to play midfield along wiht Aaron King, Kobe Dyer, Trevaun Rhaburn and Jeffrey Buller,

Smith scored Hattieville’s first goal by finishing a corner kick executed by Kelker Palacio, and Aaron King embarrassed the Bombers’ goalie Shamar Nunez with a 2nd goal. But Devaughn Zuniga added 2 more goals to complete his hat-trick for the 4-2 win.

Game 3 of the best of three series comes up at the M.C.C. grounds on Saturday, August 22, and a Game 3, if necessary, will be played on August 29.
