Otro Benque Wins Vega’s Cup Marathon

The second annual Vega’s Cup football tournament began with a marathon on Sunday, July 25, in which twelve teams participated. The Area Representative for Orange Walk North and Deputy Prime Minister of Belize, Hon. Gaspar Vega, opened the tournament with a strike at goal. At the beginning of the tournament, Vega donated two balls to each team to be used for practice, and at the end of the opening marathon, it was the team called Otro Benque that walked away with the championship. The regular season begins on Sunday, August 8. Raul Rosado, Tournament Director, will give us a weekly update.
