I am trying to compile a list of resorts that have individual cabanas right on the beach. I know about Mata Chica, Victoria House and Capt. Morgan's but are there others?

Now that I look more closely at your message, you just say "casita" on the beach rather than thatch cabana or casita. If you don't want thatch, there are some other places with cottages/units/casitas on the beach, including the Essene Way, Cayo Espanto (on the small island on the back side of Ambergris -- extremely expensive), Capricorn, Xanadu (interesting dome-shaped structures with thatch roof covers), plus various rental houses.

Do they really get that $$$$ for one nite at Cayo Espanto???!! I love how they've groomed the sea floor, but that much a nite?? Is it possible to just borrow their swimming area?!??! lol... thanks... diann

Guess there's a certain kind of person who goes to Cayo Espanto -- one used to paying big bucks for accommodations in the "main" Caribbean. Cayo Espanto does have some specials, but still their rates are outasight. Of course, the rates for the villas at Caye Chapel are even higher -- something like US$1400 a night rack rate.
