What is the name of the tree that is now dropping an apricot colored fruit?
The fruit is about the size of a large cherry or small plum and has a large pit. The pit is very pretty; high gloss reddish brown dome with an almost flat rough underside.
I have to wonder if this is what the Mayans used for soap.

It could be that you're thinking of the Sapodilla. We get a lot of them dropped in our garden by bats.

Hey Collyk I kept finding them also, but no source of the tree - I googled and thought they were loquat fruit: http://www.chinatownconnection.com/loquat.htm
The taste is nice - almost like an apricot, so of course I wanted to make wine out of them LOL

Will do Judy, but can't find the source of the fruit as I just find them randomly on the grounds. I planted a few seeds to see what would happen.

Come by Birdland (just north of the Palapa Bar). I have a lot falling to the ground everyday.

Are they some kind of persimmon? The bats leave them on my porch near Carbbean Villas.
