Residents across the country are still reeling from Sunday's hurricane. While personal losses are still being tallied, the pockets of motorists will also be battered as an increase in fuel prices is sure to add to the existing woes. As of tonight the cost of premium fuel will once again go up an additional thirty-six cents from nine dollars and thirty-two cents per gallon to nine dollars and seventy-two cents. There will also be a twenty cent hike in the price of regular fuel. The cost per gallon will now read nine dollars and thirty-three cents at the pump. Those driving diesel vehicles will fortunately not feel the additional pinch as the price per gallon remains the same.

I certainly won't complain about the $2.81/gallon I pay here in northern IL.

remember that $9.72 is Belize dollars thats
$4.86 usd and every drop is loaded on a barge to the island and pumped into the station from the barge, that has to raise the price a lot.

hi,

with the price of fuel so high, do ppl opt out of car ownership in favor of public transportation?

Have you been on Ambergris Caye, its a little different.
Car ownership probably doesn't have much consideration over gas prices, very short distances between points on the island that have roads.
I'm not sure if we have anything that would qualify as public transportation except the Coastal Express Water Taxi and its usually taking people places a car couldn't get to.
Gas prices on the island seem to effect Boat operators the most. Boats are used to entertain the tourist so it raises the prices tourist pay for things like Fishing, Snorkeling , Diving, Mayan Ruin trips, Birdwatching Trips, etc.
