The Toledo Howler is an excellent community-based newspaper produced quarterly in print and in an electronic pdf version. Containing calendars of events, current events, restaurant guides, maps, lots of great information on theToledo and southern Belize area.

Take a look!

The Howler is a great resource for travel in Toledo, an area that richly deserves more attention.

The April 2010 Toledo Howler is now up, see:
http://BelizeNews.com/howler/Howler3-4.pdf

We are pleased to attach the April issue of The Toledo Howler produced on behalf of the Toledo Chapter of BTIA. The next big event in the district is the Cacao Festival from May 21-23rd. In this issue Lee Jones writes about the excitement of birding on the cayes during the spring migration and Nicola Foster and Rachel Graham write about the whale shark which attracts so many visitors to southern Belize at the full moons from April to June.

The April issue is our twelfth and marks the end of three full years of publication. We intend to continue to give readers lots more reasons to visit Toledo in the years to come.

Toledo Howler Cacao Fest Edition
http://BelizeNews.com/howler/Howler4-4.pdf

The Cacao Festival takes place from Friday 20 May through to Sunday 22 May. We have a special four-page programme of events for this year's festival which kicks off with the wine and chocolate event at the Coral House in Punta Gorda accompanied this year by a firework display. Use our BTIA members list to find accommodation for the weekend.

Lee Jones reports on the excitement of discovering a new bird species to add to the more than 570 species in Belize. The Great Potoo was found on the Rio Grande just north of Punta Gorda.
