Thanks to "rickcheri" I went to the Long Caye web site. Very, very interesting. Anyone have an info about Long Caye? Like, how does one get there? How long does it take from Belize City? Anyone live there? Are there any dive shops there?

Hi! We own land on Long Caye but at this point the island is still wild and pristine with 98 different types of birds living there. No dive shops or anything else on the island. However, in the future there will be development ont the island including a dive resort. But this probably will be a while since things go slow in Belize. We went there last September to see our little piece in paradise via the Amigos del Mar Blue Hole day trip. We only had about 30 minutes on the Island so. But the trip was great anyway.
If you want more info about the island call the Long Caye Preserve number on the web site and talk to Jackson or Larry. They have a wealth of information and Jackson's father owned the island since the 60th when it was a coconut plantation.

Thanks M. Chick
Which section did you buy into?
Which parcel is yours?
Since it was a banana plantation can I assume that the sand has been cleared of brush? How did you hear about it? Why did you buy it? Do you plan to build there?
A million questions, huh?
Thanks, I'm hungry for information

Our lot is in the Loggerhead Subdivision Lot 31. They just started to clear some areas but it is still wild there. The land is for later on in life when there is no nature left anywhere else we will have our little secluded piece of land. We will just sit on the land until we see how the Island developes and maybe down the line build a little beach cabana. It took us 1 1/5 hrs from San Pedro to get there. You truly feel like Robinson Cruso on the Island. We think this could develope very nicely eventually and there are so many great dive sites right in front of the Island. Right now we will just wait and see what happens. Call Larry and Jackson they are great to talk to. The phone number is on the website.
