Rising Stars & Palmar draw 0-0 in FFB Inter-district football

[Linked Image] Palmar FC of Orange Walk held the Rising Stars of Belize City to a nil-zip draw in the Football Federation of Belize Inter-district First Division football competition at the MCC Grounds this afternoon.

Rising Stars' Carlos Barrera and Clinton Jorgenson led the attack, supported by midfielders Misael Canul, Avian Crawford, Jesse Guerrero and David Ramos, but could not get by the tenacious defense of Palmar's Enrique Castillo, Raul Cantun, Eder Ortega and Edward Meighan.

Palmar's Ian Chi, Kenny Chi and Ronnie Perez were also testing the Rising Stars' defense and Matthew Leal, Hubert Baptist, Andrew Estell and Stephen Arnold had all they could do to contain the lightening quick attacks, supported by Palmar midfielders David Carillo, Ivan Arguelles and Arnold Caceres.

The Rising Stars dominated the play in the first half having possession for much of the time and confining play to the visitors' half of the field, but they lacked finish, except for one brilliant shot by Jesse Guerrero that forced Walter Garcia to dive for a save, only deflecting the ball and giving up a corner kick.

In the 2nd half, Samuel Figueroa replaced Avian Crawford, and Ernest "Dubu" Flores relieved Carlos Barrera. The visitors also refreshed their attack with Santiago Chi and Omar Mollinero but the game was still a nil zip draw when Jael Ottley entered the ball game for Clinton Jorgenson. Ottley's best shot screamed over the crossbar, and the final whistle sounded to a 0-0 draw.

Santa Elena won over Club Aguilas by default when the Club were a no show for their scheduled match even after a half an hour grace period after the set start time. The referees waited until 8:30.

World F. C. has already qualified to the next round following their fifth victory, a 2-1 triumph over Cristo Rey, on strikes by Miguel Aguilar and Carlos Vasquez.

Hopkins also led Group 3 in advancing to the next round with 11 pts, following their third win 6-1 over Belief F.C.

Tower Hill is effectively out of the next round, following their 3-3 draw with Libertadores of Corozal. Dario Westby, Cesar Robert scored for Tower Hill who also got an autogoal courtesy of Keron Swazo. Libertadores had goals scored by Felipe Guy, Jamal Martinez and Alden Fuentes.

Club Atletico of Belmopan is also through to the next round from Group 3 via a 2-1 victory over Jah Roots. Edwin Palma and Geovanni Lopez scored for Atletico, while only Delroy Flores scored for Jah Roots.

The Mavericks are also into the next round leading Group 4 with 15 pts following their fifth win a 2-1 victory over Benguche on two strikes by Leslie Williams and Everett Genus Jr, while only Edwin Nazario could score a consolation goal for Benguche, who nevertheless have also qualified with 12 pts.

Carmelita of the Orange Walk district is also into the next round with 10 pots by virtue of their 2-2 draw with Capital United of Belmopan. Richard Gillett and Jevon Ico scored for Carmelita, while Danilo Marcilio and Alden Coleman scored for Capital United.

Rising Stars draws 0-0 with World FC in Interdistrict football

[Linked Image] World FC of San Ignacio held the Rising Stars of Belize City to a scoreless draw when the Interdistrict first football competition continued at the MCC Grounds today, Saturday, October 16. Rising Stars avoided a loss and got another point, but each draw reduces their chances of making the next round.

John Grinage and Ernest "Dubu" Flores led the Rising Stars offensive, supported by Avian Crawford and Misael Canul on the wings, while Samuel Figueroa and David Ramos broke up the visitors' attacks in midfield and forwarded the ball to renew the attack.

Matthew Leal anchored the Rising Stars' defense with the help of Andrew Estell and Hubert Baptist, but even so World FC's Bader Hegar and Joseph Waight broke through to get off shots, which were ably handled by the Stars' goalkeeper Glenford Chimilio.

World FC's Julian Maldonado, Joel Guzman, Shannon Defour and Cesar Villeda were also challenging the Stars' attacks at midfield, and while the Stars had possession for much of the second half as the week before, they failed to finish.

Jael Ottley and Clinton Jorgenson entered the fray in the second half, but the long whistle sounded to a dissatisfying 0-0 draw.

The stage is now set for the quarterfinals in which World F.C will take on Hopkins, Mavericks will challenge Carmelita, and Libertadores will look to liberate Benguche. The second place winner from Group 1 will take on Atletico of Group 3. The quarterfinal will be a home and away series, with the winners advancing to the semifinals, and the losers will be eliminated

Libertadores drills Mavericks 2-0 in FFB interdistrict football semifinals

[Linked Image] Libertadores of Corozal upset the Mavericks of Toledo 2-0 in the first game of the semifinals of the national Interdistrict football competition held under the auspices of the Football Federation of Belize at the Santiago Ricalde Stadium in Corozal Town on Sunday, November 14, while Club Atletico of Belmopan and World FC of San Ignacio struggled to a 1-1 draw at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan.
Clifton West and Philip Guy led the Libertadores' offensive supported by Ezibel King and Noel Guy, while Aaron Budna, Alden Fuentes and Everall Bodden broke up the visitors' attacks at midfield and returned the ball forward.
The pressure of the Corozal eleven's attacks caused the Mavericks defence to blunder into giving up a penalty, which Clifton West converted with aplomb to seize a 1-0 lead after 29 minutes of play.
Down at the other end Jamie Mangar and Everette Genus were pressing their attacks with the help of Eugene Jacobs, Zebechan Moore, Lance Jacobs and Evan Mangar, but they made little impression on the Libertadores defenders Keron Swaso, Filadelfo Perez and Jony Henry and goalkeeper Alexander Chi handled all other challenges.
The Libertadores' offensive caused the visitors to make a second costly error when defender Theodore Lopez inadvertently deflected the ball into his own goal for that dreaded autogoal some seven minutes before intermission at which the home team led 2-0.
Neither side scored in the second half, and the long whistle sounded to a 2-0 victory for the Libertadores who will try for an encore performance when they visit the Mavericks at the Toledo Union Field on Sunday, November 21.
In Belmopan, Carlos Vasquez scored for World F.C. while David Madrid equalized for Club Atletico to settle for a 1-1 draw at the long whistle, the return match will be played at a time and venue to be announced.
