Ambergris Cayes water temperature for divers Today's water temperature is 82F. or 27.7 Degrees Celsius Celsius to Fahrenheit Step 1. Multiply the Celsius temperature by 1.8. Step 2. Add 32. An example: 30C = (30 x 1.8) + 32 = 86F Fahrenheit to Celsius Step 1. Subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit temperature. Step 2. Divide by 1.8. An example: 74F = (74 - 32) / 1.8 = 23C The dry season runs from March through May. The most predictably good weather for diving is from April through June, when the winds are normally light. Hurricanes hit Belize an average of once every six years. During winter months (mainly December, January, and February), Belize is also subject to northerners that blow down and disrupt diving for several days. Water temperature may dip as low as the 70s in the winter and reach as high as 85° in the summer.

Almost to warm. The corals like it better if its cooler! and I expect it to drop a couple of degrees f. in December.. but still warm for divers. Great article in the San Pedro Sun this week about the corals of our reef and bleaching.

Seashell, Yesterday the divers came back reporting 81degrees f. It changes slowly and not day to day . 81f. is good the corals don't need any warmer than that.

With all the cold weather we've had lately the temperature of the water has only gone down one degree. 80 degrees f. yesterday and I think that's better for the corals. The air temp. seems to have a slow effect on the water at depth.

Elbert, are you taking the water temps only just under the surface? Sure, 80-81 upon entry, but most of my dives were running 75-78 . . .brrrrr . . .I was cold on this trip. All that said, wish I was still there.

All the cool air has brought the water temperature down to 79f.and 78f. It takes a long time for the water temp to change but the persistent cold air has it a little cooler. Divers are wearing shorties and some long wet suits.

Summer is here and the water temperature is running 82-83F. any warmer and we start to have problems with jelly blooms and stress on the corals.

Manatee like cooler water and its been so warm in the bay and river that they have been retreating to the sea side of the reef. Its a good time of year for spotting them in unusual places.

Ambergris Cayes water temperature for divers Today's water temperature is 82F. or 27.7 Degrees Celsius September 30th With the dead calm seas for the last two days we've developed a slight thermocline, normally its almost undetectable but the absence of wind has given us 84f. at the surface and 82 f. degrees at depth.

Several years back at Hol Chan - because the sea is so shallow and over bright yellow sand - the water tempature was 90 - like a hot bath - almost made me sick. But the good news is that - as Elbert reports - it's usually about 82.

Its November now and the water is cooling especially with all the October rain, but still as far as cold water goes we just don't have it! According to the DM's today's temp. at depth was 80f. surface was also 80f. Still a shortie wet suit feels good and the boat ride back is chilly enough for a light jacket.

Its December and Ambergris Caye has had a week of cool weather. The Caribbean waters at the Barrier Reef have dropped to 78f./26c. still warm by most standards but chilly for the local divemasters but good for the corals.

January's starting temperatures are 79-80f. The visibility was 100'+ yesterday. The coolness of the water doesn't allow some plankton growth that effects visibility.

January 15th and the average water temp has been 81F. or 27. Degrees Celsius. Rarely is there a thermocline, due to the tides and turbulence.

June 2nd and the water temperature at depth is 82f.or 27.7 Celsius. Turtle mating is triggered by the water temp as well as the time of the year and the Loggerheads are cruising the reef on Ambergris. I expect it to be 83f.+ in a few weeks.

October 22nd. Divers off the Best Buddy came back yesterday with readings of 82F. or 27.7 Degrees Celsius. November is coming but its towards the end of November that the temperature starts to cool and gives the corals some relief from the summers warm water. 2 mil Shorties still seem to be all the divers need.

Has this rain pushed the particulants down making for clearer water?

December Water Temperatures The month of December is characterized by essentially constant daily high temperatures, with daily highs around 82°F above the surface throughout the month, exceeding 86°F or dropping below 77°F only one day in ten. Below the surface the December water temperatures last year averaged 80 degrees f. at depth. 2 mil wet-suits seem to do the trick. Where we get chilly is the boat ride back to shore. A windbreaker or light jacket for the boat ride feels good.
