As my annual premium for my house insurance approaches, I need to ask... are there any other options out there that are better (less expensive) than RF&G? I just can't believe the cost... $7300BZ for $400,000BZ half wood/half cement smaller home on AC.

Call around - you will find carriers that are less expensive than RF & G. The big question is - if you need to collect on a claim will they be able to pay. Check carefully.

I used Atlantic, RF&G wouldn't even insure my house (all wood) which we finished building just this year.

We use RF&G, but our house is all concrete. The price is comparable to what we pay on our Stateside home. We also have our vehicle insured with them.
