Mathieu's Delicatessen on Middle Street next to the Fire Station is trying to do a little for the environment here in San Pedro. We have decided to use only paper packaging for our breads, pastries and other products, and we have just received some cotton grocery bags made on Caye Caulker that we would like to sell and give away to customers as we are committed to not use plastic bags.

We do have some recycled plastic bags that we only offer if someone asks, and after our "legacy" stock of styrofoam has expired we will be using EcoFriendly Solutions products for our take out home made pastas and meals. Our home made granola is packaged in plastic (again a "legacy" product) but if you bring the container back, we'll refill for a 50c discount.

We have posted on the "environment" board that we will be recycling the small rum bottles, using them for Gunter's infused olive oils and vinegars. Please bring them to the deli. We're selling the cotton bags at $8bz or, if you spend $50, we'll give you one for free, or please bring your own grocery bag!

Any feedback on our initiative would be greatly appreciated! Service given and suggestions taken with a smile!! ;-)

Anna & Gunter.

Happy to hear you are doing enviromentally friendly packaging. We come back this week and will definitly be in to try your menu. I have been carrying containers in my cooler, so when I want to get carry out somewhere, ask them to put it in those instead of styrafoam. Every little bit helps.

Thank you! if you have any suggestions about packaging, or would like to bring your own coffee mugs, plates, tupperware, and of course we refill your water containers, and we'll give you a 50c rebate on your second/subsequent purchases of granola if you bring your plastic box back.

We hope that not giving out plastic bags won't discourage anyone!

see you soon!
