A field day to highlight the red sicta project will be held today in Jalacte Village in the Toledo District.

“The red sicta project implemented during last year focused on innovations to improve the competitiveness and income of small corn and black beans producers of Jalacte and San Vicente communities of the Toledo District. Additionally the project aimed at elevating the level of productivity and quality of corn and black beans by the targeted producers, reduce cost of shelling and cleaning and losses of both harvested corn and beans as well as organizing the producers to become organized in one organization to ensure food security and market share. The field day in Jalacte this Tuesday January18 will begin at 10 a.m with official addresses by a cross section of main speakers from the Ministry of Agriculture, international and regional organizations, producers organization and a corn and beans post harvest machinery demonstration. Farmers and other inhabitants of Jalacte, San Vicente and nearby communities are cordially invited to the red sicta project field day.”
