Dozens of services exist for fly fishing, diving and snorkeling outfitters and while on our upcoming trip we will certainly use them some of the days, we also love to explore flats and reefs on our own. Does anyone know of places or even private individuals who would rent a boat, skiff, dinghy, etc. to us while down there? Thanks for any info!

Most of the shop don't like to rent power boats for some reason...it can get pretty hairy out there if the weather changes...It's better to use a guide who is a dive master..in case you get into trouble...and that happens...Boats are expensive to repair down there...that might be a reason...only a guess...Also Belize has been has been major drop point for drug dealers in the past...that may be another reason...

I wanted to do it myself and found it difficult if not impossible. Have to agree though it can get pretty nasty and not knowing the waters can be really dangerous.

I know that most likely you will not be able to rent a boat and take off...but we do have some really good guys who take you anywhere you want to go..The one guy I rally would reccommend is Ched Cabral...
