I would like to congratulate all the people who have been working so hard for the benefit of our four legged friends. We have been away for two years and I have been so impressed at the improvement in the condition of the local pack. Leashes being used properly, obviously cared for animals around town, what a huge difference from when we csme here in the early 90s, and also noticable change since 09.
I will be wandering down to SAGA while I am here to leave some money, but I just wanted to tell you all how impressed I am. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much. Much hard work by a very dedicated team, including past and present clinic staff, and board members, has gone into education, animal round-ups, and animal care to result in the present situation. As you say, quite a noticable difference from several years ago.

When you visit the clinic, be sure to meet with Ingrid, without whom, Saga would not be what it is. An amazing lady, chances are she will be there when you stop by.

So nice that there was this thread..and the response from Grant. As an islander, I was so happy to hear this from a visitor. I think, especially, under the circumstances, SAGA, Ingrid, and Ari, Grant, and others; are to be thanked. I remember what it was like fifteen years ago. But, it is so important someone who hasn't been here for a while to give feedback. We can never toot our own horn without seeming self serving.
Grateful, that someone has noticed! Good show!

We will be arriving next week and I'm wondering if it is okay to take one of their dogs out on a walk around town for an hour or so?

Of course! As far as I know, I don't want to speak for SAGA, they have a desire for dogs to be socialized. I always suggest to long term visitors to foster a dog. We love our pot licker dog, and have our eyes out for another, of the same breed type. Right now, USA TSA is making it difficult to adopt dogs, and is only accepting dogs back to the States that have prior Air Waybills? that prove they came from the USA. This sucks for our Island dogs, as many have been adopted to the States! I'm looking into this stupidity! What does TSA have to do with something that has been no problem in the past! Please, see Ingrid, and walk a dog.l

what the hell does TSA have to do with the importation of animals? Or, are they being given the dirty work of others? There is nothing in the TSA mandate that gives them control of animals - resident or alien.

I would love for them to explain how a foreign born animal is inferior to a "native born" animal. Good grief..........

Thanks Gwen, where is SAGA located?
I'm not looking to adopt one, I already have to rescue dogs here at home. You would think a simple vet check would suffice the TSA, or whoever should be in charge.
Hopefully they are not on a strict diet, it would be fun to give them a treat from the butcher shop and the ice cream place, I'll check with Ingrid first.

All of my dogs here have loved Manelly's ice cream. Pepe was always left of the golf cart and strangers would come out and share their cones with him.
Miss Kitty goes in with me and I stopped buying cones (melt too fast) and get two scoops in a cup. She sits quietly beside me in the booth until there is only about one good sized spoonful left. Then she gets it and licks the styrofoam dry.
The dogs here are all referred to as 'Pot Lickers' and they will eat (beg) for anything. Have fun with our pets.

Take only pictures leave only bubbles
