Can someone kindly advise the current departure tax levied to American Airlines passengers ? I've had a couple of different "opinions" rendered and am not sure which to believe (budget for). Thank you.

If the draft of your vessel exceeds the depth of the water, you are most assuredly aground.

The last 2 times I've departed Belize, both times with American Airlines, I was told the tax was included in the ticket. The last departure was Jan 17th. My tickets were frequent flyer tickets which cost less than the former departure tax. I think I came out ahead by about $10 US.

The same thing happened to me and I couldn't figure it out. I didn't put two and two together about using a mileage ticket. I had enough miles for several people to go, so when they lumped them together I thought that it was a "bulk discount." Thanks for connecting the dots for me because my exit tax was $9 US.

Even if you pay for the ticket, American now adds that to the ticket and you don't pay the departure tax. American pays it for you just like Continental does.

See? And that's why I asked: American have told me that it will be $20 p/p (and I don't have/use miles credits on AA). Guess we'll find out when it's time to head back home to the (ugh...) cold and snow.

AA adds it to your ticket. That is certain. No matter on what kind of ticket you fly.

^Since when? AA were/are the only airline that the depature tax WASN'T included in the ticket price. There are lots of other taxes not just Departure Tax.

When did American start to include these fees? We have always flown American Airlines but also have always paid the exit fee.

When I left on Jan17th I wasn't charged nor was I charged when I left in Nov. Don't know when it changed but do know I wasn't charged. Perhaps someone could call AA in Belize City and ask them. I can only say what happened to me and a friend who also wasn't charged.
