Prices all went up another $100.
latest out of Pensacola via Atlanta is $795.
Out of Atlanta is $745
Out of New Orleans is $765.
Its cheaper to fly all inclusive 5 days to EU and South America. Why cant Belize negotiate better rates? Tourism board is full of it!

Yes something is wrong when I can fly across the US from Spokane for only $100.00 more than from Atlanta.

BTB is not in a position to subsidize airlines nor control their rates. We would love for any of the budget airlines to start flying into Belize from the US and direct flights from Canada. Belize and Cancun are two very different destinations and countries. MX manufactures nearly everything required to construct infrastructure-roads, septic and water systems, electrical, construction and more. They also produce oil and have lower fuel and engery costs. Belize has to import everything, with shipping and duty piled on top of the costs. In how many other places can you snorkel in the morning on the largest barrier reef in the hemisphere and sit atop a Mayan pyramid overlooking the jungle in the afternoon? I know high air fares restrict many visitors from coming to Belize, but most of those who do come, think the differences between us and Cancun-like places, is worth the extra $. We are not a mass tourism destination. They are and that is reflected in the costs and personal experience. I rarely have a client who did not love their vacation in Belize. Some return; all tell their friends how great Belize is. Belize is not for everyone, that is for sure. But it is one of the better destinations in the world for all we have to offer in one relatively small country.

I understand your position, Katie. But how can someone justify the Newark post above.

No rhyme or reason to how airline price fares that I can understand. It is sometimes less money to fly AA from Belize to LA or NY than direct to Miami. Sometimes less to fly to Tampa than to Miami. I can only scratch my head in wonderment. So I would buy a tixs to LA or NY and get off on Miami, if that was my final destination. Go figure. Ask them.

You can do that only if you have no checked bags and do not plan to return on the same ticket.

We went to AC last month and had bought our tickets almost a year in advance, $540 from Seattle to BZE, we liked it so much we really wanted to come back this June but air fare is now $746, Delta and other airlines are about the same for June. But I did find air fare to Maui for $312 on Hawaiian Air, so I did that.
If prices to BZ were around $400 we would go 2 or 3 times a year(tourism board? got your ears on?), it was our first trip there and is now a favorite, but air fares will keep it to once a year at most. But we will have to go back to find the pieces of our hearts that were left there.
