I am the preacherman most of you met during the skydive Belize event. My wife Jo and I oversee International Sports Outreach(google) that has just recently came to San Pedro after 6 years on the mainland and we have been to the island 18 times to set up this outreach and help the local children in many other ways.. Part of our job ahead of the clinics and games on 3/18-19 at the lagoon football field was to help coach the SPHS softball team. They allowed us to take the job of hitting instructors and we have worked on hitting after school to sundown on many days this winter. It all paid off as the team wins their first regoinal title ever in Orange Walk, scoring 31 runs in 8 innings, winning the title game 20-6.My wife went on the trip and baked cookies for the boys, they all love her so much.We now travel to Punta Gorda for Nationals and I have wrote a rap song for the kids, who appeared on channel 20 television this morning.
We heard all the negative talk...that we had no chance in Orange Walk..then we made more runs than outs....and it brought the screams and shouts...We had faith, others kinda sorta..But we knew all along, we were headed to Punta Gorda. The mission of ISO San Pedro is to build the kids self esteem, keep them busy after school and off the streets and we have been planning this for over a year without mentioning it on this board, because of negative reaction by some in the past.We are not doing this for the money but it is now time to ask for support from the board as we have been given the rights by the Belize government for little league baseball from the folks in in Williamsport Penn and will start our first league in San Ignacio this April. We will bring little league to San Pedro as we are able to fund it. I am not an accountant and don't know how to facilitate the fundraising( anyone can go to ISO website and earmark a donation to ISO San Pedro) but will promise transparency, as you can tell, i cant even find spell check on the post board, but those who know us the board know our heart, I just returned from Hattieville prison last week were I spoke with over 700 inmates, we want the children of San Pedro to have more options and my wife wants to start a girls fast pitch team on AC and we have the support of ISO to do that, we just need some financial help. The island is all abuzz about the boys success, this has been over 16 months in the planning stages and think the island needs something like this, don't you agree ?Thank you David & Jo Nisbet ISO San Pedro 635-3844
