I have heard that the private home beaches located north of town are dirty. Would this include the area of private homes just north of the cut? Any opinions on the beach around Agape House or White Sands Cove/Belize Beach Suites would be helpful. Thanks! [Linked Image]

Desert- I stayed at a house just north of the cut a couple weeks ago and the beaches near the private homes are pretty well taken care of. Our beach was very clean and pretty. It's just the parts in between... Keep in mind that the water is very shallow there and I found not great for swimming, etc., but it depends on the individual house. Have fun!

ARGH!! I can't let this one get by me! We have a home 4.5 miles north of San Pedro, (a cluster of four similar homes, covering two lots, with a swimming pool in the middle) and the beach is raked every morning by Raymond, the caretaker. It is immaculate!

Maybe some of the homes do not clean their beaches, I don't know, but not all are dirty.

The lots which do not have homes built on them do have garbage. And this is one thing that did bother me when I was there. I kept wishing I had a large garbage bag to take on my walks with me. When I go in July you can bet that I will be on "garbage duty" every time I take a walk. Not sure yet what I'll do with it, but I'll figure out something. This beach garbage is not from people littering directly on the beach (from what I could tell). It is mostly the crap that people throw overboard when out on the sea, and guess where it lands? [Linked Image] This is the one thing I would like to change about Belize--that no one would throw garbage overboard.

KC-next time I'm there I'll join you on the clean up walk. As I said our beach was also very clean, but it is sad about all the stuff that washes up... IJ

Thank you to all who gave there input about the beaches. The information is helpful [Linked Image] I am not too worried about it - just wondering if there was any truth to what I've heard. I am just looking forward to getting out of Vegas - to a place where the tourist are fewer and the hotels are smaller [Linked Image] No worries about a little trash in paradise, so long as it's not the desert [Linked Image]
