Hello All. I will be belizing it July 28th through August 5th and am so very excited!! I just got back from Roatan and went diving for the first time...LOVE IT! I have been a mad woman researching about where and when I am going to dive again. So, one day I come across this awesome board and now I am soon off to Belize [Linked Image]

Although those ferry trips from Belize City may be the cheapest...is it worth it? I am picturing the sun on my back, the ocean wind in my hair, a nice and relaxing scenic view of Ambergris...

The water taxis from Belize City are pretty much utilitarian boats. Their job is to get a bunch of people (20 or so per boat) from Belize City to Caye Caulker and San Pedro fast. It's not a cruise. On a nice day, it's a cheap (US$12.50) and pleasant way to go, but if the water is rough or it's raining, it's not so pleasant. It also depends on one's attitude. If you are looking for a good experience, it probably will be.

I took the water taxi from San Pedro to Caye Caulker and back one day, great trip.
The water taxi is not like a cruise, it is just the means to an end.
You are stacked in like sardines, traveling north sit to the left, traveling south sit right, less water being sprayed on you.
I find boarding tricky, stepping from the dock to the boat that is lower, and the boat bouncing, sure tricks the eyes, therefore I need someone's hand, and another passenger had to help me. Remember the Captain and crew of the water taxi is not as accommodating as your snorkling and diving guides. You are on your own. But HEY what a trip, it works and is cheap.
