VACCINATION WEEK OBSERVEDThe Ministry of Health is observing the ninth annual vaccination week in the Americas. The week is being observed under the theme - Vaccinate your family, protect your community. During the week the Ministry of health personnel will be visiting households across the country to provide information on vaccines, the diseases that vaccines prevent, to offer children who have not completed their immunization and to administer vaccines to children who need to be vaccinated against measles, whopping cough, tetanus and polio. The Ministry of health says seasonal flu vaccines will also be available for persons with chronic diseases and for all older persons. According to the Ministry the last case preventable diseases such as Polio was reported in 1981; Diphtheria in 1982, Measles in1991, Rubella in 2001, Tetanus, and Whooping Cough in 2008.
