I've been reading this message board for the past 3 months and have a file of info.for our trip about an inch thick--including a restaurant guide!!! Our family of 4 (including 2 young teen boys)will be arrivng June21. We have had most of our questions answered about AC and have a pretty good idea what we'll be doing... 3 days of diving snorkeling/fishing, 1 Mayan trip, a (possible)cave tubing trip, and that leaves 2 days to RELAX!
Just a couple of questions: Is fishing or netting allowed off of any of the docks? Is it worth the effort to bring our own fishing gear or is renting the best way to go? We would love to do a reef or deep sea fishing trip, (it's expensive). We fish regularly off the coast of N.C. and usually have great luck catching dolphin and big Tuna....Will we be disappointed with the off shore fishing in A.C. in comparison (understanding that luck has alot to do with it!)? It would be a huge thrill to get into some big Tarpon. Would love to hear any off shore fishing stories!!! Any advice on guides and which cave and Mayan trip to take would be appreciated. Is there any advantage to making reservations before we get there? We were thinking to watch the weather and make our plans daily. Thanks in advance for your reponses. This message board is the greatest!! P.S. One last question from the 16 yr old: Is there a basketball hoop anywhere near Banana Beach and do the local kids like to shoot hoops with the tourists?

I'd talk to some of the folks listed at: //AmbergrisCaye.com/fishing/

to see abou tbringing gear and setting up a fishing trip....

i would do like you say, watch the weather and book when you get there. Check in with the folks you want to take tours with fairly early in your stay, so you can merge your schedule with theirs....
//AmbergrisCaye.com/tours/

lists local tour guides.....

for basketball, head downtown and play. theres a great court there, and sure folks will let you into the games...
