Belize’s Minister of Sports John Saldivar has been elected as the Vice President of the Americas Councils of Sports Ministers. The Council is holding its eleventh general assembly in Brazil. Minister Saldivar is the first Belizean Sports Minister to ever attend the Americas Council of Sports Ministers meeting. Belize is among the 42 nations of the Americas that belong to this group. Some 26 nations were in attendance. Minister Saldivar took the opportunity to meet with his counterparts from the Americas, as well as to meet with Maria Jose Pesce the Regional Director for the World Anti Doping Agency and Anne Jansen, Senior Manager of Government Relations & Compliance with the World Anti Doping Agency. On Monday Minister Saldivar also participated in the Central American and Caribbean Sports Council Assembly.
