From a friend in New Orleans....

Damn....just watching the news.....the Mississippi River will reach flood stage in the New Orleans area early next week. Even with the Spillway Open, the water will almost be topping the levee according to the news people.....

This city is just not safe....
get flooded by the lake, by heavy rainstorms and now by the river....

not sure I want to ride up on the levee when it is that high....
too dangerous.....

Saw a bunch of people fishing this afternoon on the levee.....water was still way down but it is rising.....gone up several feet since I was out there yesterday afternoon.....the river fish are BIG!!

I grew up on that stretch of river watching it make the US Corp of Engineers look foolish!
Classic case of Mother Nature proving over and over shes gona put the river where she wants.

In Missouri, the Army Corps of Engineers blew a third hole in a levee to relieve pressure and prevent catastrophic flooding there and in Illinois and Kentucky.'
It doesn't mention that they created the levee!

Other articles did. The levee was made to be sacrificed in the event of catastrophic flooding. It's not the only one, it's just the first time this one has been breached since it was built in the 30's.
