The art exhibition "Exquisite Souls" by Belizean artists Lucky Chiang and Vivian Liu will be inaugurated on Thursday, May 19th, at the Institute of Mexico in Belize.

The exhibition includes more than 70 works in a wide range of techniques, materials and styles. This event is part of the cultural exchange program between Mexico and Belize. The objective is to support Belizean artists and make their works of art be known in Belize and abroad.

Lucky Chiang was born in 1945 and has been dedicated to painting for 30 years now. Lucky's fascination about nature can easily be seen in his paintings. When he catches the feeling of a place, he transforms his joy and inspiration into a piece of work. He likes to try different techniques. Therefore, his painting styles also vary in different periods of time. This is his third exhibition at the Institute of Mexico in Belize.

Vivian Liu was born in Taiwan in 1964 and migrated to Belize in 2006, the natural environment and simplicity of its people made her fall in love with this beautiful country. She is a Plasticine art teacher and has been implementing her technique in Belize for over 5 years. Her works include plasticine art, color-drawing and knurling-flower.

The opening ceremony will be held on Thursday May 19th, 2011, at 6:30 pm, at the Institute of Mexico in Belize. Entrance will be free and open to the general public. The exhibition will remain open until June 10th, 2011, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

The Institute of Mexico is located at the corner of Newtown Barracks and Wilson Street, in Belize City.

Artistic Light And Magic

More than 70 works of art dedicated to nature and the simplicity of Belizean life make up the latest exhibition at the Belize Mexico Institute dubbed "Exquisite Souls".

Those souls are depicted by Two Belizeans of Chinese ancestry who have shared their fascination with Belize's natural beauty.

Lucky Chiang has lived in Belize for 20 years and has been painting using watercolors for more than thirty years, while Vivian Liu, a Plasticine art professor migrated to Belize in 2006 and has been teaching her art form here for over the last five years. The Institute's press officer Marcelino Miranda told us about this latest exhibit:

Marcelino Miranda
"One of the features and the theme of many of these painting is a special look - special vision about nature in Belize. That's something that is very interesting in these paintings and I think the public is going to identify these images - these visions about Belize. Both painters have come from Asia and they have a special vision about Belize. They decided to stay here in Belize and they admire the nature and the Belizean people. In the paintings are specific images about Belizean nature, some of them are architecture and the special flavor of Belize. Mr. Lucky Chiang has work extensively on water colors and most of his work is water colors. We have an entire section on water colors. It is going to be a very good opportunity for the Belizean public to look at these specific techniques that are different from the others - oil on canvas or pastel and other kind of materials. Specifically these ones are what Mr. Chang has been working on and as we can see especially most of the theme is about nature."

"Vivian Liu, she is a versatile artist. She has been working in many techniques. One of them is specifically about placticine and the other one is a specific technique of working with flowers. So we have these paintings that are 3 dimensional works and it's a very specific technique and it's a very good quality technique that she is using. I am sure that people are going to find this kind of works remarkable and beautiful and at the same time she has other works with woods, plasticine and also with oil."

The exhibition opens 6:30 tonight at the Institute of Mexico and will remain open until June 10th.
