The former Board members of ACCC would like to keep you informed of the work in progress to combine our organization with the San Pedro Business Association. We hope you will share the importance of this matter and come to the next SPBA meeting. (See below)

Jan Brown

May 11, 2011

Minutes from San Pedro Business Association
(The portion concerning merger with Chamber-ACCC)

The general feeling of officers of the SPBA is positive to form "one structural organization". In order to make this happen, they will e.mail their feelings to SPBA members and evaluate their feelings.

Mr. Bruce Boyd, Fido's spoke and pledged to assist to make the new organization stronger by being active and their membership dollars. Jan Brown addressed the group saying that many current active and former members of the ACCC feel strongly about preserving a "Chamber of Commerce" presence on the island. It is a truism that the name of Chamber of Commerce is a strong one and relied by persons around the world who want information about San Pedro for business and travel/tourism reasons. Therefore, by merging to a "San Pedro Chamber of Commerce" would be a wise name choice.

Rebecca Arceo suggested hiring the secretary from ACCSD for at least one month. She is very capable of running an office for both groups. Duties would include internet information, meeting notices, phone calls, etc. Question arose regarding what she would be paid for the extra duties. To be determined.

Rebecca will gather emails, feel out SPBA feelings and call another meeting in near future regarding combining and restructure. Also, Since their charter time is at a renewal time, it is time for them to have elections of officers. Jan asked why and added to wait until the decision is made. It would be a double effort unless the new organization would have all SPBA officers. Rebecca feels that the merger will happen and anyone from the ACCC is welcome to enter their name as an officer of the new group. E.mail your nomination to [email protected] May 25th. Election of officers will be at the next meeting on June 8th. This will be for position of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasure.

Membership fee structure was brought up by Harriet Fischer. Both members of ACCC present and SPBA agree there are many individuals who promote the business community are valuable and should be allowed to have an "individual" membership.

Reminder of Lobster Fest June 19 - 25th. Booths and volunteer positions are available. Contact the same e.mail above.
The next general meeting for SPBA is June 8 (usually at El Divino). Notice will be posted on our ACCC site.

Respectfully submitted, Jan Brown, ACCC Member

Anybody have different contact info for the SPBA Lobsterfest committee than the email on the website and the phone number listed? I've emailed several times and called over and over again, no answer.
