The convention was contested by three candidates - Patty of San Pedro, Baldemar Graniel of San Pedro and Ramon Reyes of Caye Caulker.
At the end of the voting time allotted to the PUP supporters, 1,406 people cast their votes and 11 were spoiled ballots. On a point of interest in the Caye Caulker ballot box, Patty received an overwhelming 289 votes while Ramon Reyes of that community received only 89.

Immediately after the announcement at the Angel Nuez Auditorium where the voting and counting took place, Patty addressed the huge gathering of campaigners and supporters and thanked the PUP family in its entirety. She promised to work very hard to ensure a PUP victory commencing with the town council elections to be held in March of next year.

Mr. Baldemar Graniel also addressed the gathering accepting Patty's victory and congratulating her. "I am still a PUP and will continue to work, support and fight for the PUP no matter my defeat at this convention," stated a bold and humble Baldemar Graniel.

Following the short addresses, a jubilant and large crowd of Patty's supporters took to the principal streets of San Pedro and paraded in jubilation of her overwhelming victory and also a great victory for the PUP considering the very good turnout of voter participation.
