Lowdown on the Lobster? #41197

I read a headline in the San Pedro Sun that there isn't as much lobster being caught this year. Does anyone know what is going on? Does that mean that if we are visiting in the next couple of weeks we won't be able to order it? Or will it just be more expensive? our mouths have been watering for months thinking about the lobster we would be eating!

just a lousy season, there will still be lobster, probably a bit more expensive thanit would have been...

We just got back and we didn't notice a shortage of lobster. I stuffed myself on it. As for prices, I can't say, but the best place and most reasonable was at Papi's Diner on the north end of town. (Near the hand ferry) A lobster dinner which included TWO tails, with baked potato and steamed fresh veggies was $32 BZ or $16 US. The most reasonable we found. Other places had it for as much as $45 BZ. A bit pricey. It was sure delicious. Papi's also has the BEST pina coladas on the island. Belize it!

We live in Houston and witnessed all of the flooding.Luckily we didn't have any damage.
We can't wait to get to AC!

Come to think of it, our fishing guide did say that before the hurricane last year there used to be lobsters in the "bay" area on the back side of the island, but that he hasn't seen any there this year...... So this is probably true..... But the restaurants all seemed to have it. Enjoy!
