On Ambergris Caye we have a couple of spots where owners/managers have intentionally created impassable situations. Grande Carib is one, they dug a drop off at the edge of the property and put steps to steep to get a bike up or down and installed a uniformed guard to ward off people on the beach. Bad community PR but again, no enforcement from the Town Board lets them get away with it. Maybe Placencia has a different sentiment (People virs Development) in the Town Board and this kinda thing will be prevented. My advice is kick ass quick or the trend will get established.
I deleted Elbert's post and sent him a PM. I thought the PM would post on this thread but see it didn't. The beach area that Elbert is referring to was washed out last year during the two storm surges that we had. Stairs were erected after the surges and erosion to make it easier for pedestrians to pass.
The Town Board rule is no wheeled vehicles including bicycles on the beach. This IS the rule that they should be enforcing.
Elbert's closing comment taking a poke at the fact that we have security shows that he really is losing it.
I have been horrified at the sheer number of bicyclist and motorcyclists that speed down the beach, dodging pedestrians and sunbathers! It is insane. The beach is for walking, lounging and relaxing, not a stressful place to avoid traffic.

I have had guests in the past knocked down on the beach by bicyclists. The bicycles won't slow down for anything and you can't here them coming. The beach is not where they belong. Children playing in the sand and people laying on beach towels is for the beach.
You should have defended yourself on the thread instead of deleting it, if this is the case. The Town Board has no such rule and you know damn well you created the steps at an angle of a ladder to keep the bike traffic off your beach. Storm damage, give me a break and have first hand experience with your rude security guards on your private beach. Fess up up Tim its too obvious to anyone trying to pass in front of the hotel.
