Hurricane Hunter that we just starting to invest 93L had mechanical problems and had to turn back to base. That's a drag, as that would have given the clearest idea of what the system is doing. Fast and west is what we want at this point (as opposed to slower and WNW.) Hopefully they schedule another flight for this afternoon.

There is a great website to track storms: www.stormpulse.com
It gives current information, a great detailed map, distances to major cities, etc. This is what they have posted currently:

"Shower activity associated with a tropical wave located about 200 miles east-northeast of cape gracias a dios Nicaragua continues to show signs of organization. An Air Force reserve unit aircraft scheduled to investigate the system this afternoon experienced mechanical problems and had to return to base. Environmental conditions remain conducive for a tropical depression to form within the next day or so. This system has a high chance, 80 percent, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves generally westward at 10 to 15 mph. Interests along the coasts of Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, and the eastern yucatan peninsula of Mexico should monitor the progress of this disturbance."

Just something to keep our eyes on....

From Diane at StormCarib

To be or not to be? 93 certainly has commanded a lot of watching, but not much forming up. Our MET office advised us to prepare as if there were a depression. Out in the cayes that doesn't mean much, but on the mainland for people who live in flood-prone areas they may need to move livestock etc.

People in the boat-charter business are prepared to move their crafts tomorrow if need be. Everybody else is waiting and watching and being pretty relaxed. Worst case scenarios for this one seem pretty mild.

We've had very changeable weather today - from sunny to cloudy to heavy rain and back to sunny. Glassy calm seas - barely a whisper of wind.

For now the main event is enjoying the day.

Cheers
