I had heard that it is hard to cash or use 100 dollar bills (US currency) in San Pedro. Is this true for 50 dollar bills as well? or should we just bring 20s. We aren't bringing a ton of cash with us but will want some emergency $ on hand. Thank You for your replies, this has helped alot so far.

Twenties work better. Generally easier for the vendors to change.

Not sure I'd advertise bringing tons of cash, be careful (anywhere you go-not just Belize)

Wouldn't do anything bigger than a $20. Easier to manage when you get change back in $Belize.

100's will be fine in all but the smallest places but people won't be too happy, as anywhere wouldn't, if you're just buying a coke and cleaning out all their change.

Take hundreds and go to any bank and change them into BZ money as you need. Less to carry in your wallet.

what he did NOT tell, Bob, was the real number...the one before he suckered someone else into covering the difference. "Oh, I will be right back. I want to check on my reservation at BWG" smile
