Hi folks. I am new to this message board, having moved down to AC earlier in the year and adjusting to such a new way of life after the big city.

We brought our cats with us when we moved and they are adapting well to island life, but there are so many animals here that need your help. I have been talking a lot with Bron, our local vet, about the Saga Society (they have a web page with more info on their work with all the stray animals) and she is in real need of things both large and small, that maybe you could find some space for in your luggage. Or if you are shipping stuff down perhaps your container isn't quite full!!

If you are friendly with your local vet then basically any surgical instruments or medical supplies they might be willing to donate would be welcome. Also collars and leashes, which would only take up a small space in the suitcase. Or old towels/blankets which I know would take more room, but think of the space you will have for taking home all your goodies!!

For those of you moving here then a cat crush cage would be a big help with all the unhandleable ferals! or perhaps you have a filing cabinet that you can't imagine a use for in such a laid back environment and were going to leave behind And for those escaping corporate life, maybe your company is about to upgrade their photocopier and would like to donate the old one to a good cause.

The Saga Society and Bron are doing some great work in neutering and rehoming so many of the animals, but they would really appreciate your help. And if you are able to bring stuff down for her, the office is in town directly behind Ramon's village.

I went to AC in May and brought as much stuff as I could to the SAGA society! Bron is doing an excellent job helping these animals and was very appreciative of any help! I think another way she needs help is educating the people of how to take care of their animals. I would email her before you go to see if she needs anything specific. Her email is [email protected].
Peace, Susan

Made a donation through the website and will bring kitty stuff when we come down in September. Always glad to help out a fellow animal organization.

To be honest everything is welcome. Bron admits that a lot of the instruments she is using she would have thrown away if she were elsewhere in the world. Also some of the medical supplies may be a little past their sell by date, but even that is better than no supplies at all.

Can you bring stuff like dips/collars/medecines or food items into the country? Seems like a lot of places are really strict about that sort of thing.

I was worried about that too, but I did not have any problems. Nobody asked me anything, but if they ask you just tell them that you are donating all of the stuff.

I sent several things down prior and brought a suitcase full of products(I work for a vet)and had no problem plus when you carry dive gear what else would you have??
Anything would be appreciated-if you do bring dips and shampoo make sure they are in baggies b/c of leakage.
