We will be arriving on AC soon. Are the local and outer reefs recovered from the hurricane last fall? Is Hol Chan as good as ever? We have used several dive ops in the past, but who is "hot" right now? Thanks, Scott

I led a group of 38 people to San Pedro on Oct. 27th just a few weeks after the storm. Since the storm surge actually came from the lagoon side of the island there was no damage to the reef that we saw. Diving conditions were in fact improved from when we were there in Oct. 1999. We continue to dive with Amigos Del Mar as they consistently provide the best service by far!
It depends on what kind of diving you want to do. Alex with Amigos was very good. However, I think Amigos gets lots of fairly newly certified divers. The other diver master wanted to keep everyone herded and most of the divers huddled in clusters. Since I am an advanced diver and u/w photographer they let me hang back to myself. I highly recommend that you contact Belize Underwater Video and ask if Patrick will be going. You can buy a video of your self diving which is worth so much once you are home. Ched Cabral now has his own boat and he is one of the best dive masters on the reef. Takes small groups only (6 to 8) Billy Leslie with Hustlers is also very good. What are you interested in doing? How many dives have you logged? Will you have a dive buddy with you or will you need to be assigned one?
