My hubby & I are planning our first trip to AC and we're trying to decide on a place to stay. I've had my eye on The Village Residence but would like to know of first hand experiences there. It's looks a little rustic, but we're not afraid of roughing it. We don't need fancy digs, just so long as its clean and safe. Thanks in advance for the input.

Holiday Hotel!!!

I don't think the "Village" aka Mayas Katut is even in existence any more as a hotel. Due to its location (not on the beach but in a residential area) it went through several incarnations -- hotel, condo, timeshare, apartments -- and think it's now housing mostly for St. Matthew 's med school students. Where did you see the Web site?

UUGGHH. Doesn't sound as good as it looks. I found their site at ambergriscaye.com/pages/lodge/lodgingpice. Its that site that lists accomodations by price range. Its the last listing in the moderate range. Maybe we'll keep looking. By the way, what does Holiday Hotel mean??

The holiday hotel...One of the oldest and better moderate priced places..Right on the beach and close to all the action. You might also try my all time favourite The Hideaway.. just a short walk south of town.Pool bar and resturant.Not on the beach, but all you have to do is walk across the street. Friendly folks..Have a fun time!!
