Hi, My wife and I are returning in Feb back to the best place in the world Caye Caulker. We were thinking about going to goff's Caye. Any suggestions on who on the island would be the best for a day trip of snorkling and relaxing to Goff's. We were hoping to avoid Cruise ship people so it is not so crowded. So any advice on which day's are best would be appreciated. Thanks and can't wait to chill with you all on Caye Caulker!

We normally stay at Cake Caulker and love it there. Our friends went to Goff's Caye and had a great time. Why should we not go? Is there somewhere better?

Chocolate (on front street) used to take folks to Goff's Caye as well - I remember some good trips with him, while on the island stop by and see who he recommends as well. The Caye has suffered a lot of abuse since the cruise ships started large scale snorkeling there, but the elkhorn coral is beautiful. The deeper water snorkeling is still good as most don't go out very far. I am pretty sure that the local tour group(s) recommended here can fill you in on which days this winter the cruise ships are in harbor as the schedules are pretty much set up in advance (weather being possibly the only limiting factor.)

Goffs Caye is great, but hell on cruise ship days, another limiting factor. in Feb the only days to go without hundreds of tourist is Fri, Sat, Sun. You really want to get out on the water, stop and snorkle eat fresh caught fish do the three day Ragamuffin trip. Overnite at Goffs or Seargant Caye, then overnite on Tobacco Caye and ends up in Placencia.

I made the Ragamuffin trip a few years back and spent the first night on Rendevouz(sp?) Caye and then Tobacco Caye and what a great trip that was. I'd recommend them anytime.
