We went on a beach picnic and were taken to a stretch of beach up past Captain Morgan's and Mata Chica. Now, we understand about the hurricane, but shouldn't someone clean up those beaches. I mean, really.

I don't place it all just on the property owners, The resorts and tour companies who charge people for their secluded beach picnics should get together and do it. We were actually told to walk along the beach and check out all the interesting things on it, like they were ancient artifacts or something. Check out what? Shampoo bottles? Beer bottles? Spray Starch? Flip Flops? Unfortunately, it is a really beautiful piece of beach with crabs, pelicans and frigate birds.
It would be nice if someone with $$$ (wish it could be me) set it up as a park, cleaned the beach and cleared some of the overgrowth.

It's all privately owned... mostly by Americans. And most of the trash littering the beach has washed in from far away across the sea. No one here has the time or $$ to keep it all clean.

The tour companies that charge $$$ for "secluded beach picnics" -- and almost all that I saw, do, should get it together and clean it up.
Who wants to pay the money for a picnic on a dirty beach.
Be realistic. If you're going to charge people for a beach picnic -- CLEAN THE BEACH!

Jesse is correct.
I have been to the most remote uninhabited islands on this planet and their beaches are littered with junk from the whole planet.The currents move the stuff. The glass balls we use as decorations are from Hong Kong. Takes them 3 years to get here but they do. Most of its plastic. My favorite is doll parts.
Legs , arms, heads.

The point isn't where it comes from. The point is about being charged to hang out on the beach. That's all. I'm not saying San Pedro is using it as a dumping ground.

I don't think they "charged" you for the spot on the beach... They charged you for the gas to get there and back and the picnic supplies. If you're not careful, the private land owner WILL charge an extra fee to picnic on his/her beach. Then you can chew them out.

You all just don't get it apparently. Is the fact that AC is not as touristy as Jamaica charming? Yes. Are dirty beaches charming also? NO!
That is all I mean. Cleaning the beach up before charging $350 for a picnic doesn't make AC less charming, or more touristy. It just makes the beach prettier.

I think the solution to this is for the guy who is doing the picnic to choose a better cleaner spot to take charters too.

we have over 20 miles of coastline and it would be prohibitive for anyone to pay to clean that as it is a DAILY errand and you clean it one day and the next it has garbage or seaweed again.

Most people who own property and live here have there beaches cleaned dailY i know I do but absentee owners have no way to clean there beaches until they come to live here and have to look at it daily then it gets cleaned pronto.

However the sloution is have the guide pick a nice beach that clean to do his bar-b-que
