Scenes of crimes are many times what wins or loses cases in a court of law. It is where evidence is gathered to convict or acquit an individual on trial. And Belize's scenes of crimes personnel have received their fair share of criticism for failing to provide sufficient evidence or failing to undertake a necessary procedure in securing evidence. For the next two weeks, scenes of crimes personnel are gathered in a conference at the National Forensics Laboratory in Ladyville to enhance their capabilities. Romero Riverol is the Coordinator of the training.

"The purpose is to have participants which come from different units, namely the Scenes of Crime Unit, Police Department, Coast Guard, Belize Defence Force and also from the Customs Department for them to learn how to process a crime scene and how to prepare upon arrival at a crime scene mainly to protect a crime scene when they arrive."
The group of trainees will take part in a practical exercise on securing scenes of crimes on Thursday.
