Zebra Longwing Butterfly; Heliconius charitonius

I had heard they where endangered but they seem to be dozens around my house, I chased several with the camera today but they seem to sense me and I failed to get a photo.

The Zebra Longwing (Heliconius charitonius) is not endangered, it's quite common and the Flordia State Butterfly. They eat passion flower vine, can live for over 2 months and like the forests edge. They are very fast and hard to get a good capture of.

Thanks for the info, Coleen! My husband Barry got those particular photos (and the monarch). I took the photos of the orange butterflies. Do you know what those are too (see my blog link above)?

I know what they are, what's it worth? Just kidding. The orange striped one is Banded Orange Helicon (Dryadula phaetusa) and the orange is a Julia (Dryas iulia).
Yes the Monarch's were just here. They ate all my milkweed last week!
