Press Release – San Pedro Town Council – November 21st, 2011 - The general public is advised that after studying all options available, they have no other choice but to close the bridge to VEHICULAR TRAFFIC (including golf carts) immediately. This is necessary to complete the street rehabilitation of that area. The bridge will re-open to golf carts and Polaris on Sunday, November 27th. The Council apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause and thanks you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Hope the ferries & water taxis will do a good job

Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol

I guess planning for this bridge closure by creating an alternative (ferry)would have required way too much foresight.

Or drive to the bridge, walk 30 seconds and jump in a cab. I think they'll be lined up, making a nice little income for one week. $5 to $7bz to town and maybe a little more for points south. One thing I love about Belize is that we are very enterprising!

I'm sure they'll allow bikes to pass, even if you have to walk 'em in the pedestrian part of the bridge. I don't think they consider bikes "vehicular traffic", even though my bike is my (only) vehicle. There are too many local employees who commute to work north every day on bikes for them to be disallowed. At least I hope so as that is how I get to town and hope I can tomorrow as well -- gotta renew the tourist visa!
