Pastors and church leaders of San Pedro Town are planning what they are calling a San Pedro Town Bible Parade. The parade is to be held this Sunday. Clive Welsh, Director of Lighthouse Christian Radio in San Pedro told us more about the event.

We are just taking a stand and showing that there are still Christians in San Pedro who still believe in and uphold the Bible. We will start at Buccaneer Park and we will go ocean side for a block or two and then down to the streets to Pescadore Drive and all the way through town to the Roman Catholic School and then we will make a right at Tarcune and then we will go to the old football field, where there is going to be a time of praise and worship, specifically for San Pedro Town . We will also have various pastors sharing briefly about the gathering and the ways and the things of the Lord. So we are looking forward to it and I believe that it is going to be a start of many more outward expressions of the fact that there are Christians here in San Pedro who really want to see the Lord do a work on this island.

The Bible Parade will start a 3pm in the evening.

An estimated one thousand Christians turn out for Bible Parade

A group of pastors and Christian leaders in San Pedro Town met several months ago to discuss and pray for some of the issues BELIZE and the idea of a Bible Parade was formulated in San Pedro Town. That Bible Parade was held on Sunday on the Island Town where participants said it was an expression of God's love to the residence of San Pedro town. Many pastors, church leaders and believers from various denominations gathered together at the Boca Del Rio Park at 3 PM. The Parade was led by the San Pedro RC School band where they marched on Pescador Drive and ended at the Old Football Field where an estimated one thousand Christians gathered for a time of praise and worship with several presentations from various churches. The minister of Tourism and Area Representative, Honorable Manuel Heredia, addressed the congregation with a speech mentioning that the Churches are the root of Christianity in our town and Nation and is vital in the education of the children and the growing community of San Pedro Town.

I was wondering if that would be on the 20th or the 27th. I guess I missed it. 1,000 participants is great considering the fairly short notice.

No matter what your faith - religion helps to bind a community together and keep most of the scourge of society at bay.

Thanks for the story.
